Acupuncture Correctly Handled At Manhattan NY Chiropractic Offices

Acupuncture is one method of therapy within in the modern medical field, though it has roots that go back much farther. This is a method of therapy and health management that entails stimulating specific areas and important regions of the body, most often with thin needles that are pricked into the skin.

This procedure that was started in China, many thousands of years ago, is used mainly to reduce pain in the body and to relieve symptoms of various diseases. A lot of research has been done and it has been proven that acupuncture is quite effective.

For example, a major study was conducted a few years ago on the effects of acupuncture on patients with chronic pain. It was a meta-analysis of 29 well-conducted studies involving nearly 18,000 patients and published in October 2012 in the Archives of Internal Medicine. The study found that the patients reported less pain, fewer flare-ups, faster recovery, and overall better results from the acupuncture than those who only received typical medical care and pain management. The effects did vary quite a bit among the patients with some seeing minor improvement and others seeing fairly significant improvements. This is believed to be due to the fact that so much depends on the patient- their pain levels, their tolerance for pain, their lifestyle, their unique biological makeup, and other factors that can be different from one person to the next. What is known though is that there is a noticeable improvement and any relief from pain and any reduction of symptoms is a good thing!

Studies are still being done to see if acupuncture can be used to manage a number of conditions. This includes conditions such as heart problems, asthma, dementia, arthritis, high blood pressure, irritable bowel syndrome and allergies. Even cancer has been included in this list.

Most doctors outside of the practice of traditional Chinese medicine are not convinced that acupuncture can treat specific diseases, but are looking at how it can help make life less painful and traumatic for those living with these serious and life-changing conditions.

There is quite a lot of hope that this therapy method will be widely embraced by many people. A lot of healthcare professionals are also starting to take it more seriously. It is gradually being accepted as a valid method of dealing with medical conditions.
